Susan Ryder N.E.A.C., R.P.

Susan Ryder is a leading member of the New English Art Club and of the Royal Society of Portrait painters. Due to her commitments as a portrait painter it takes her about five years to assemble sufficient paintings for a solo exhibition. The exhibition we will be holding from the 7th - 23rd October will be the fourth of these.

Susan has a marvellous ability to capture ‘light’ whether it be sunlight streaming through a window at the end of a long hall or a lamp lighting the dark corner of a room in a stately home. She imbues the painting with a luminescence and warmth. Her exteriors are filled with sunshine making the viewer wish that he or she were there.

She has exhibited regularly at the RA. Summer Exhibition since the age of 18 and has won many prizes for her work.

She was until recently Vice president of the Royal Society of Portrait painters and amongst her more interesting commissions are her painting of H.M. The Queen for the R.A.C. Centenary in 1997 and her painting of H.R.H the late Princess of Wales in her wedding dress which was commissioned in 1981 by the Prince of Wales. Arthur Ackermann is the agent for Susan Ryder and can quote prices for portrait commissions.
